Late one night, after about an hour's worth of practice, I threw up 5 balls-- in the fountain pattern-- and tried to do a pirouette under it. I was tired, I was just about to stop and go in for evening. But I almost got it... sort of. In reality, as you'll see, I was pretty far from nailing that particular brand of the 5-up 360, but it FELT promising, so I stuck with it a little longer. Forty-five minutes later, my back and legs ached, I was a sweaty mess, and I was not even close to saying, "I can do this trick." I ended the night with no success there. Truth is, I'm not really "ready" for that trick yet. I shouldn't be spending 45 minutes doing it—10 or 15 maybe just to get the feel for it-- but not 45. I'm not really even on the "cusp" of getting it. I was just feeling like I might get lucky that night. It didn't materialize. This video is an exerpt from that practice session. Juggling could feel pretty lonely at times like this. It could feel pretty futile, pointless. Or frustrating. Or exhausting. But, tired and sore as I may be the next morning, there's still something about juggling that leaves me able to answer my wife's question about that night's practice ("Well, was it still fun?") with this answer: "Definitely."
